I Am So Sorry.

I know there’s no good excuse, but for what it’s worth, every time I think about how I’ve shirked my duties here at roundhoward, I think about all of the sad puppies created by my absence. From now on, that little guy right there (I’m calling him Gulliver) will be my constant reminder to do right by all you readers, human and canine alike. Consider me returned.

That isn’t to say I haven’t been super busy lately. Over the last few weeks, some cool stuff has gone down that’s required me to go incognito. In case you’re not already in the know, allow me to walk you through roundhoward‘s month of February.

Breaking: Nick Fury Fired from Marvel?

Samuel Jackson says talks have stalled

samuel_l_jackson

The latest news making the rounds today is that Samuel L. Jackson might be dropped from the upcoming Marvel Studios films Iron Man 2, Captain America and The Avengers. Jackson, who first appeared as Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man, tells LA Times’ Hero Complex:

“I saw ['Iron Man' and 'Iron Man 2' director] Jon Favreau at the Scream Awards and we had a conversation. He said, ‘I hope things are working out for you because we’re writing stuff for you.’ Then all of a sudden last week I talked to my agents and manager and things aren’t really working that well.”

“There was a huge kind of negotiation that broke down. I don’t know. Maybe I won’t be Nick Fury. Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won’t be in it. There seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world so [they're saying to me], ‘We’re not making that deal.’”

Exclusive Preview: The Regulars #1

January 9, 2009

Your first look at the new comic!

Alright, so it’s a little cheap to claim an “exclusive” when it’s your own product to begin with, but there it is!

Enjoy a first look at the in-progress graphic novel The Regulars, written by yours truly (Josh Wigler) with art from Simon Fellah. Ed Brisson will be contributing the letters, which are going to be different than what you see below.

In the bowels of Brooklyn sits the Muddy Bottom, a seedy tavern turned sanctuary to a trio of drunkards. Finny Gage is a former prizefighter who lost everything. Bad Luck Billy is a meter maid pretending to be a detective. Horace the Horse-Faced Tortoise’s physical disfigurements hide a heart of gold. Cared for by bartender Noseless Ned and waitress Miriam, the regulars would happily rot in the godforsaken bar forever. But when a stranger called Good Touch Gary arrives, the fates of these boozehounds become entangled in a shockingly bloody spectacle.

These are The Regulars. And this is how they died.

Hope you enjoy it! More updates to come.
